Thanks for the compliment.
Actually, I think that what's scary about debian are the debianites
themselves: too prone to bash against any other distro.
I've been a happy red hat user for over 10 years now, and have installed
RH on all sorts of devices, without any hassle and without user
complaints. And by all sorts I mean from embedded 486-like systems (elan
sc520) to big SMP servers. Of course I'd recommend fedora core 2 (or
core 1 if you don't want 2.6) , it has all the tools you'd need and good
spanish support (as good as any other distro regarding application
packages ie. mozilla, gnome), but then again, that's my personal opinion.
The good news is that there is local dialup isp (prodigy) in Bajos de
Chila, Oaxaca. the phone is 543 30 30 (local call)
The bad news is that there ain't no MSIE for linux (yet?) and in the
same 10 years experience I've found that many users complain when not
able to "navigate" as M$ pretends we all "navigate" the web. For
instance: 6 months ago, I could have found the dialup number using
mozilla. Now, they (telmex) have filled their site with nonstandard M$
crap. Same goes for most mexican bank sites. I guess instead of
flame-war-waging we should be pressing motherf***ing webmasters to
conform to the w3c specs.
regards,
Ray
